During this 5 days tour we will depart from Marrakech and pass through the high atlas mountains,tizi N tichka pass , then we will drive to Ait Ben Haddou, the ancient world heritage site by UNESCO ,after that we will continue to Ouarzazate “the Hollywood of Africa” ,Agdz city ,Draa valley and Zagora. Then taking the old track of Paris –Dakar race passing through berber villages, Ouzina dunes to Erg Chebbi where you will ride camels and overnight in the berber tents. Taking another road back to Marrakech crossing through Rissani market, palms Oasis, Todra gorge dades Valley , Rosas Valley , Ouarzazate , taking again Tizi N tichka pass arriving to Marrakech.
After we met at the place where we had agreed upon . We will star our tour to southeast through the High Atlas via Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 m in altitude). After crossing Berber Atlas villages, we will enter into the territory of the Berbers of the desert. We will stop for a visit to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou: declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and made famous as the setting for the Oscar-winning blockbusters such as “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Sheltering Sky” and “Prince of Persia”. We will pass through Ouarzazate; also called the Hollywood of Morocco on our way to Agdz City, crossing the Tizi n’Tinifift pass at 1660 meters: a series of rugged mountains of black and grey rock, unusual beauty from which we can contemplate an incomparable panoramic of the Draa Valley and its stunning palm grove, the largest in Africa with over 150 km long, dotted with kasbahs, villages and orchards. Night in a charming riad in middle of the Draa Valley.
Our tour today takes us from the Draa Valley to Ouzina across some very diverse landscapes. We take the trail through sand rivers, villages lost in nothingness, nomad camps and dry lakes until we reach the Ouzina desert: a magnificent place, accessible only by off road tracks, away from the usual tourist routes and where we spend the night and feel the pure authentic desert. On arrival and after a welcome tea, you can contemplate a sunset that you will never forget from the top of the dune. After dinner, we relax to the rhythm of drums with a small live performance of local traditional Berber music. The night will be spent in a Kasbah Hotel.
Today is another day of desert discovery. After breakfast, we continue on the off road track to Merzouga. We will stop along the way to visit the small isolated village of Ouzina, one of the oldest in the area, and also Khamlia: known as “village of the blacks”, inhabited by descendants of former slaves from sub-Saharan Africa, who will offer a sample of their culture while drinking a delicious tea. We continue to our destination, close to the amazing sculptured dunes of Erg Chebbi where you will meet your transport for the remainder of the day. Your camels will take you to a high point where you can watch the sunset and afterwards to your Berber camp where dinner and local entertainment will be waiting for you. You will sleep in a berber tent under the stars.
An early start rewards you with the spectacle of sunrise over the sea of dunes. After breakfast you return on the camels to Merzouga, we will departure to Rissani: the desert door of Erg Chebbi, with a bustling Souk little frequented by tourists, where you can see nomads who come here for their supplies and a car park of donkeys near the market. Our drive continues to Tinghir “mountain city” in Tamazight language; another beautiful Berber village where we will enjoy the contrast of their palm groves and roses. The landscape changes now, we enter the magnificent Todra gorges formed by walls over 300m high and a popular international climbing spot. After that visit, we drive to the Dades Valley, a Berber village known for its towering gorges and views of the Atlas. Night in a charming riad.
After breakfast we continue our tour crossing different valleys such as the Roses Valley and the Skoura palm grove with its hidden kasbahs on our way to Ouarzazate where we will take the High Atlas Mountain road through the Tizi n´Tichka pass that will lead us back to the red city of Marrakech.
