7 Days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert : Tour Starting from Marrakech, Desert Tour from Marrakech

Introduction :

This 7 days tour from Marrakech to sahara desert, it will take you to experience the adventure in the desert by 4X4, you will cross through the erg chegaga and erg chebbi dunes following the old track of “Rally Dakar”.

Program details :

1 Day 1 : Marrakech – Tizi-n-test – Taliouine.

After breakfast we will depart towards Taliouine across the Berber village of Asni, the valley of Ouirgane, the High Atlas through Tizi N-Test pass (2260 m in altitude), we will stop to enjoy impressive landscaps we’ll have lunch in a local restaurant,then towards to Taliouine and visit the village. Overnight at hotel.

2 Day 2 : Taliouine – Taznakht – Foum Zguit – Iriki lake – Erg chegaga desert.

Leaving Taliouine in the morning to Foum Zguit via Taznakhte, lunch at Foum Zguit. In the afternoon we reach Chegaga, you will make a visit to the nomads living in tents, and crossing the dry lake of iriki and desert plateau full of acacias. Arrive late afternoon to the heart of the Erg chegaga dunes, Dinner under the stars next to the camp fire, while entertained by the local people .

3 Day 3 : Erg chegaga – Mhamid – Zagora

After breakfast, we drive to Zagora passing by the village of M’hamid El Ghizlane and Tamagroute where we will have the opportunity to visit on the oldest Quranic libraries in south of Morocco, then the pottery factory. Afternoon, we continue our way for Zagora crossing through Berber villages down to Zagora, overnight.

4 Day 4 : Zagora – Tismmoumen – Tafraout desert.

After breakfast, our departure will be made by taking the Paris-Dakar road towards Tafraout village, taking us through the Tizi n’Tfilalet mountain pass, the hamadas and across the desert plateau. This road also runs alongside Kam-Kam Gorges and a trail taken by ancient dinosaurs. Their remains still stand, after many generations, within the landscape of the Sahara. On this day, we will also have the opportunity to meet local Berber tribes, Down to Tafraout. Overnight.

5 Day 5 : TAFRAOUT DESERT – RAMLIA – OUZINA – KHAMLIA – MERZOUGA DESERT.

After breakfast the journey will begin traversing across some very diverse landscapes. We take the trail through sand rivers, villages lost in nothingness, nomad camps and dry lakes until we reach the Ouzina desert: a magnificent place, accessible only by off road tracks, later partaking in a visit to Khamlia, a truly unique Gnawa village, just before reaching Merzouga Dunes. we will have a communal dinner and spend the night under stargazing at a Hotel or camp.

6 Day 6 : ERG CHEBBI – RISSANI – ERFOUD – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY

An early start rewards you with the spectacle of sunrise over the sea of dunes. After breakfast you return on the camels to Merzouga, we will departure to Rissani: the desert door of Erg Chebbi, with a bustling Souk little frequented by tourists, where you can see nomads who come here for their supplies and a car park of donkeys near the market. Our drive continues to Tinghir “mountain city” in Tamazight language; another beautiful Berber village where we will enjoy the contrast of their palm groves and roses. The landscape changes now, we enter the magnificent Todra gorges formed by walls over 300m high and a popular international climbing spot. After that visit, we drive to the Dades Valley, a Berber village known for its towering gorges and views of the Atlas. Night in a charming riad or hotel.

7 Day 7 : DADES VALLEY – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH

After breakfast we continue our tour crossing different valleys such as the Roses Valley and the Skoura palm grove with its hidden kasbahs on our way to Ouarzazate where we will take the High Atlas Mountain road through the Tizi n´Tichka pass that will lead us back to the red city of Marrakech.
